From out of Left Field

That’s where this comes from, literally.  Not only is this left field of Boston’s historic Fenway Park, but it was painted over seven years ago.  That’s why I say, very cleverly I might add, “From out of Left Field.”  The truth is I’m working on some commission projects right now and have nothing new to share.  So I thought why not post something no one has seen before.  In this way I can keep my every-other-Tuesday commitment and satisfy the thirsts of my imaginary audience.  You might say it’s “content marketing” in its highest form. Then again, you might not.

The iconic backdrop to Fenway’s left field is commonly referred to as “the Green Monster.”  I’m a die-hard Red Sox fan still reliving the memories of last season’s miracle run, so I thought it would be cool to share this original painting of Boston’s four legendary left fielders.  I positioned Ted Williams, Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice and Manny Ramirez in period uniforms right in front of the famous scoreboard in left field.  My objective was to contrast eras as well as players.  In Fenway Park players, uniforms and even fans may change but the backdrop does not.  Long live this American treasure.

It’s framed 32.5”x  42.5” acrylic on canvas, just sitting in my basement – waiting for a fellow Red Sox fan to hang it in their office or den or wherever.  One day when someone actually reads this blog - they just might.
