First Draft: painting in progress
Nothing much to see at this point but now that I’m posting
“every other Thursday” I thought it might be interesting to share a little process
with my audience. Keep in mind I use the term
“audience” loosely.
My objective is to incorporate my friend Chuck’s memories of
San Diego into one painting. Having recently relocated back to the Northwest
after twenty years in San Diego, Chuck has a lot of fond memories of both the
city and his experiences. With his vocation being golf focused, I determined
the primary subject should be a view of Torrey Pines Golf Course, located high
on the bluffs north of the city. From there it’s the Gaslamp District and a
signature scene of San Diego Bay. My challenge is how to combine these images
to make the painting interesting and beautiful at the same time.
Should I ask for audience participation? I think it’s
important to have an audience first. My blog more resembles a diary than a
public forum. Still, if there’s anyone out there that has a suggestion or
observation, please feel free to chime in. Chuck, this includes you sir.
