"Jing Jing Jingle in the Evening"
Sorry I was channelling my inner Sammy Davis Jr whilst thinking of what to Blog about tonight. Happy Holidays you super six or seven readers! Ho ho ho! Hey I found this old vintage frame from a toss out painting my wife's grandfather Frederick Wissenbach created over 70 years ago. He was quite an accomplished "western" painter and we cherish the few leftover pieces she inherited along with an extensive photo history of her Grandparents life. I found this link on "Masters" artist site http://www.askart.com/askart/artist.aspx?artist=133081 which markets his work. I also found an article from the 2006 Klamath Falls Herald Review talking about a commisioned painting of Klamath Indian Winema which reads:
"The Rev. Frederick Wissenbach, rector at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in 1944, had already developed a reputation for paintings of Indians in the Northwest.
Besides his work as a pastor, Wissenbach taught art classes part time at Klamath Union High School. He also painted a mural in the sanctuary of St. Paul’s that remains to this day.
Wissenbach, a native of Germany, served at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church from 1942 to 1949. He died in 1952 while returning from a trip to the Middle East.
The portrait of Winema was hung Wednesday in the lobby of the county museum"
My latest painting rests in one of Fred Wissenbach's vintage frames. The scene is a typical downtown Portland street corner in Winter. I hope it's worthy of it's new - old home. Enjoy and don't forget to Jingle in the Morning too! Sammy said so.
