Biggs Jct.

Where North Highway 97 meets Interstate 84 at the Columbia River.  We call this place Biggs Junction.  Most Oregonians have driven through this lonely oasis a multitude of times.  It's not memorable.  If you don't stop you'll miss it. Who notices roadside gas stations, convenience stores and diners anyway.  Especially when surrounded by barren hills, miles away from the nearest real town.

Personally I love this place.  I love the long sloping hills that angle downward to the wide river below.  I love the bright yellows and browns of summer and the lonely blues of winter.  I love the warm lights at dusk.  They're a welcome sight for weary travelers looking for a quick pit stop.  There are always more miles to go because Biggs Junction is never the final destination.

Some of life's most beautiful scenes are seemingly mundane.  If you don't stop you'll miss them.

Biggs Junction is 16" x  20" acrylic on canvas.
