Pike Place Market from Above

A wedding gift for Hillary and Kurtis.

I’ve known Hillary since the day she was born.

From the beginning Hillary was surrounded and supported by a group of friends tighter than family.  She descended from friends who transitioned from college days to adulthood - together.   We went from dating, partying, ballgames, trips, weddings – oh the weddings - to being new parents, working parents, tired parents and now older parents.

Hillary was there through much of this journey.   She was a de-facto niece (to all of us) and de-facto cousin to our daughter and all other de-facto cousins of the group.

Along the way there were:

Memorial Day weekends in Seattle – horse races in Kent.

Tailgates at “the knoll” every fall with all the kids – rain or shine, day or night, win or lose.  And it was mostly losing BTW.

There were drop-everything-and-run trips to Salishan and later - escapes to Black Butte Ranch.

There were Christmas tree hunts every December AND group barbecues every summer.

Kids parties, New Year’s parties, Super Bowl parties – were standard sanctioned events for this group.

We simply lived in the moment year after year and why not.  It all moved so slowly before ending so quickly.  Now Hillary and all her collective de-facto cousins are grown.

Now it's Hillary's time and she’s found the perfect partner in Kurtis.  Seeing them together and meeting his wonderful family and their incredible friends – I know they’re at the start of an incredible wonderful journey.  I envy them and wish them nothing but love and joy as they travel through life together.

A waffle iron is great but I wanted them to have something that lasts through the years. Maybe personalized perhaps.  Look closely at the white rooftops you can almost see their wedding day itinerary.   Hillary & Kurtis 2018

A 30” x 40” acrylic on canvas painting for the newlywed’s dining room.  It's big and framed.
Inspired from photos I took from Jeff ’s former office building on Memorial Day weekend 2017.  It was unusually hot for that time of year.  I know this because we’ve been to Seattle almost every M-Day since 1986.
