A great day Dunn Gardens

I was invited to exhibit along with other wonderful artists at Dunn Gardens' Fall Foliage Festival last Sunday afternoon.  This is a beautiful venue totally hidden within the city limits of northwest Seattle yet garden enthusiasts seem to find it with ease. Several hundred people attended despite shaky morning weather and the afternoon ended up being a perfect October day in the Pacific Northwest.

Kathleen's Arbor Knits

One of the artists we exhibited with was Kathleen Hanzel Green and her business Arbor Knits It was great visiting with her and seeing her beautiful intricate work.  Her attention to detail and materials is really something to behold and it contrasted perfectly against the fall colors of Dunn Gardens.

What was made for Seattle, stayed in Seattle.  I only created three Seattle themed pieces and none of them made it home Sunday Night.  In fact, I displayed two of my paintings that were not for sale (they had a Seattle theme but are owned by someone else).  I received a commission to repeat  BOTH of them.  So a pattern emerged for when we return to our home away from home.

Pike Place Market east & west
A special shout out to my wonderful wife Kevan and her childhood friend Carolyn.  It was Carolyn who invited us to be here last Sunday and it was Kevan who took care of the myriad of details to make it happen.  From getting marketing materials set-up and printed to researching and purchasing easels, She worked  tirelessly down the stretch and allowed me to paint furiously these past weeks.  In fact I completed my final work on Saturday morning!  Kevan also took care of the display as seen here. Thank you both and thank you again Carolyn for the amazing Thai curry soup dinner on Saturday.

What a fun and successful weekend.  I'm so glad Kevan tattled on Carolyn for stuffing spinach in a milk carton in 2nd Grade.  Hail, hail Morningside!  I still can't believe that's a song.
