Immaculate Deflection

Richard Sherman deflects 49er quarterback Colin Kaepernick’s pass away from Michael Crabtree in the final minute of the 2013 NFC Championship (played in January 2014) with the Seahawks clinging to a six point lead.  The deflection was intercepted in the endzone by Malcolm Smith.  This is the moment when the Seattle Seahawks punched their ticket to their second Super Bowl and first world championship.

For you fellow 49er fans – this was a commission piece for a very dear friend who I’ve known since (her) birth.   She wanted something special painted for her boyfriend’s birthday and apparently he’s a Seahawk fan and Niner hater.  I can appreciate his perspective and passion even though it runs contrary to my own.  I took a shot as to what scene he would want.

This piece is 20"x 24" Acrylic medium on canvas with a custom painted frame featuring images of the three Seahawk Hall-of-Famers (not shown here).  With frame it is 23"x 27"

Happy Birthday Kurtis!    It’s from Hillary – not me.
