Late Winter at Government Camp
Sometimes in late winter when it’s clear and near dusk, the parking lot at Government Camp provides a quiet unexpected view of Mt Hood. At the right time with the right conditions the mountain seems to glow in the evening sunset. Machines, parked cars and structures contrast civilization against nature. Shadows reveal the cool night ahead. Another winter day is coming to a close and soon the season will follow. Vignettes of ski posters past frame this solemn moment giving it a retro, playful feel.
Acrylic medium on board 28.5" x 35.5" and custom framed with molding acquired from the Rebuilding Center http://rebuildingcenter.org/
I'm donating this piece to the First Annual Dream Makers at the Vineyard in Salem on May 23rd. http://salemdreamcenter.org/events/
