Spring Storm… and dog poo karma.
Ever notice how the sky can be dark and light at the same
time? Spring thunderstorms can be a
little weird. When else can you enjoy a
bright sunny day with an ominous wall of foreboding darkness? Not the most comfortable time to be outside,
but if you can capture scenes like this before the rain hits, it’s worth the
risk. Just wear your sunglasses and
carry a big umbrella. If lightning
strikes, you might want to change this strategy. Either way, be thankful this is Oregon and
not the great Midwest where it could be sign of something more ominous.
I started this piece during “the great snow storm of 2014.” I know, to most people in northern regions
this was not a great snow storm, but to Oregonians it was. It was
inspired from a walk I took last spring.
Turning the corner onto the Burnside Bridge I was stopped cold by a
generous pile of dog poo – not one of Portland’s safer corners if you value
clean shoes (I think I mentioned this in a recent post). Anyway, with concentration broken, I looked
up and noticed this dramatic scene. Thank
you, dog owner that doesn’t understand scoop laws. If it wasn’t for you, I might have missed
this moment. Let’s just call it “dog poo
karma.”
