Pioneer Place at Night
Monday.
Today is the first day of the week and the last Monday in January. For me personally it’s a special Monday. It’s CFO Monday. No, it’s not a national holiday to honor financial officers. It’s my own self imposed acronym designating something completely different. For me, today, CFO stands for Colon Frickin’ Oscopy. Oh joy, rapture.
When one is fortunate enough to be fifty-something there are certain procedures that await you. Modern medicine is advancing to the place where prevention is as important as treatment and in a few days I will realize it’s a good thing. Just not today. Not CFO Monday.
Today however, is a good day to share my latest work “Pioneer Place at Night.” My new direction is to work with color, contrast and angles to depict energy and create a mood. In this scene I’m trying to capture the bustle of Portland’s famous downtown shopping mall at night. Using a bigger brush leads to a less literal interpretation of a familiar scene, which is where I’m trying to go right now. This painting is acrylic on a 24”x 48” canvas painted around the sides (around the edges) and soon to be framed and on display.
Stay tuned. It’s Monday and I always blog on Monday. Next Monday I’ll be displaying my work at Blue Moon Coffee www.bluemoonlo.com in Lake Oswego just like I did last February. I love this place. Can’t wait.
