Food Carts of Portlandia
To every downtowner in the city of Portland food carts are a way of life. They have become as much as a descriptor of Portland as rain. Burritos tacos, burgers, hot dogs, philly cheese steak sandwiches, chicken fingers, jambalaya, pad thai, bento, bratwurst, salads: bean, shrimp and or tofu, Gyros, Indian Fry bread, fish sandwichs – snapper or salmon or cod, yes it’s all here folks. And it's all good too.
Is this a unique phenominan? Maybe but it's catching on across America. Keep Portland weird? Well in Portland you can eat chicken in a waffle on Tuesday and a reindeer hot dog on Wednesday – sorry Rudolf we just ate Dad. If you can think of a food, it’s in a metal trailer in downtown Portland with a tarp and picnic bench close by.
This painting is intended to capture the spirit and strange beauty of Portland’s food cart shanty town. It’s 24”x 48” painted on Canvas. I'm hungry.
